What Does a Roofing Contractor Do?

Most people are familiar with asphalt shingles and concrete tiles as roofing materials. The most common roofing system in North America is to use asphalt shingles. This system of roofing is made from aggregate materials mixed with silica to form long fibers of material that are bonded together with heat-resistant cement and epoxy resins. This type of roofing is very durable, economical, and easy to install, but because of its durability it can sometimes require a little more maintenance than some other roofing systems.

The second most popular type of roofing is the asphalt shingles, which are also commonly referred to as granular stones. These shingles are made from one piece of large rolled stone that are then molded and glued together to form a large sheet of material that is waterproof and able to withstand rain, hail, snow, heat, and other weather elements. Because of these features they are often used in areas of high elevations where condensation can be an issue and where water may freely drain into the ground. Asphalt tiles come in different types, sizes, and colors to accommodate the varying needs of home and business owners.
